JAZZ FUNK POP-UP with SEMYON

This Jazz Funk pop-up is an invitation to move beyond steps and into expression, presence, and emotional freedom.

In this class, we explore the foundations of jazz-funk while diving into lyrical, sensual choreography that encourages confidence, musicality, and individuality. The focus is not only on learning movement, but on how it feels in the body, how groove, timing, and emotion come together to create something alive and personal.

About Sem

Semyon has been teaching dance for over 14 years and has extensive teaching experience. He also danced in several dance companies, such as “Omyt” and “AnonimeFire.”
• Semyon is the founder of the “SignalWaves” dance studio.
• He has taught at universities and colleges.
• He studied with American and European teachers at the DAR and DASS festivals.
• He has a professional choreographic education.
• His styles are: contemporary, modern, jazz, jazz-funk, Afro dance and ballet.

About the Class

In this class, we’ll cover the basics of jazz-funk. We’ll learn a couple of routine dance routines.

We’ll work on liberation and emotion in dance. We’ll learn lyrical, sensual choreography and dance.

How our studio works:
We use three colors to help you choose the right class for your current energy:

• 🟢 CENTER (Restore & Ground): For days when you are tired or stressed. Focuses on grounding (e.g., Pilates, Yoga).
• 🟣 CREATE (Skill & Expression): For days when you want to learn a new skill. Focuses on expression (e.g., JFlow, Contemporary Dance).
• 🟡 CONNECT (Rhythm & Energy): For days when you want energy and fun. Focuses on enjoyment (e.g., DanceMix, Commercial Dance).

What to do next:
